\ Adelante.
Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate our proud roots and the many contributions of Hispanic Americans. Latinos today are present in every facet of our society. A special thanks to the tens of thousands of Latinos serving in our Armed Forces – and the Veterans in our community. Growing up, I washed dishes in my dad’s restaurant in small town West Texas. Today, I’m proud to serve in the U.S. Congress along with a record number of Latinos. The sky is the limit. \ Adelante.
Congressman Gallego offers a Motion to Recommit- which is essentially the last chance to amend legislation - on H.R. 3102 – which would slash $40 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and take away nutritional assistance from nearly four million Americans – including children, seniors and 170,000 Veterans.
I’d like to talk General Odierno, you and General Welsh, about the impact, of one of the disconnects I think there is many people don’t understand the importance of the civilian side with respect to the uniform side. And so when you look at Joint Base San Antonio or look at Laughlin people don’t understand, or Fort Bliss, the importance of the contribution of the civilian side. Can you talk a little bit about that and how that spillover affects the uniform side? And how they work in tandem, if you have some specific examples about, and at some point I’d also like some specific information offline about the bases that I represent, and how they would be impacted.
